Happy Fall Tails

Things around The Long Dog Retreat Dachshund Rescue have been busy.
Busy in the rescue world is a good thing! It means doggies are getting rescued and adopted.

Here are a few of our recent success stories.

Over Labor Day weekend we had our first annual Wienerpalooza Dachshund Festival. A great time was had by all and in the midst of the activities one of our dachshund pups, Dandelion, was adopted by Deana G. from Holland, Michigan.  Dandelion started out his new life by getting a new name. He is now known as Leo and he has been loving life in his new home.

Shortly after Leo was adopted, him momma Dolly was adopted as well! Dolly now lives near Lansing, Michigan with her mommy Jodi P. and her doxie sister Bailey.

In October, foster dog Oscar found his loving forever home with previous Long Dog adopters. George and Mary Lynn P. from Lake Leelanau, Michigan contacted us because they had been looking for a brother for their doxie Sammy. Sammy was the very first dog that The Long Dog Retreat ever placed. So now Oscar and Sammy are both living the good life together.

November 10th our very handsome doxie, Achilles was adopted by Angie P. from Fredericksburg, VA. After a long trip, Angie reports that Achilles is already settling in comfortably to his new home.

We are so pleased with the adoptions of the last few months and we feel sure we can meet our goal of getting at least 35 doxies re-homed during the next year.

We owe most of our thanks to you, our supporters. Most of the dogs we receive require spay/neuter, shots and often dental cleanings before they can be placed. These procedures require money and we have been fortunate to have the monies needed to give these dogs all of the care they need. All of our dogs are also micro-chipped before getting adopted.

We are doing great things together with your help!
